song of the orcas

Song of the Orcas is an abstract interpretive painting invoking the power and excitement of witnessing a pod of killer whales.  I have been lucky enough to spot these majestic mammals from my deck on numerous occasions since moving to Sidney.  They  never fail to impress me!

 Marine mammals, such as whales, dolphins, and porpoises, are much more dependent on sound for communication and sensation than are land mammals, because other senses are of limited effectiveness in water. The word "song" is used to describe the pattern of regular and predictable sounds made by some species of whales, including the Orcas.
